Research

The IDCM Lab takes performance-based, simulation-based, and artificial intelligence (AI)-based approaches to innovate managerial capabilities throughout the building life cycle. We adopt theories of virtual design and construction (VDC) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) to enable visualization, integration, and automation.

Dr. KIM, faculty of the IDCM Lab,, employs the framework of VDC to explore and formalize the relationships between different building elements (i.e., process, organization, product elements) with the goal of enhancing the performance of sustainable building and construction. His research interests are:

Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Building occupants' behavior
Performance management
Offsite construction
Cyber-physical systems (CPS)
